CIS610 HOBS1P2024 Capstone in Information Systems Unit 1: Topic Proposal Introduction Druing this week, you will begin your work on your project. You will start by choosing a problem you would like to work on in the next 8 weeks.  The choice of the topic is open to you; however, it must meet certain relevance criteria listed below: It should be meaningful to any real of hypothetical enterprise (a business, non-profit, etc.). We encourage you to use one you familiar with due to your work or internship when possible. There should be evidence of the problem's existence (or existence of similar problems). This may come from a literature, or supporting documentation provided by the enterprise. The exudence (sources, data) should be created within current or prior calendar year. The core of the problem should be data-driven business analytical problem. Directions  Submit a Word document that includes: Project title Problem statement (up to one page), which should state the problem and how it will benefit a specific enterprise. You should also briefly address how the project topic will satisfy the criteria listed above. Appropriate references that will justify the problem meeting three relevance criteria. Please note, that while some minor changes to the project goals are allowed a complete change of the topic will not be allowed during the project unless recommended by the instructor. Unit 1: Project Proposal Introduction Once you have chosen the topic, the next step is to plan the project. At this point you will also need to decide what is the order of the modules and briefly describe what each of the deliverable will include. Directions Write the project proposal as a Word document that will include the following components: Project title and Problem statement (copy from the topic proposal incorporating instructors feedback). Project schedule in a table format and a short narrative describing the rationale for this schedule (see table below). For each deliverable provide: One paragraph statement on its role in completion of the goal. Expected technologies to use (highlight the need in additional study). Major expected outcome of this step Schedule Schedule Week Deliverable(s) from List 2 3 4 5 6 7   Note, that some project may need to split one suggested deliverable into two deliverable over two weeks, and combine other two into a single deliverable (e.g. a project with heavy predictive analytical component may have two components delivered over two weeks, then two other components of the lower priority may be combined into one deliverable). If that is a case provide justification separately or within component descriptions. As a part of the evaluation process the instructor will provide you with the feedback on the the timeline adjustments.
